The first thing to say is as with most relationships, what you put in, is what you get out. The word networking is often misused. Attending a conference as a stranger, then breaking out for a tea break and passing around business cards is at best lead generation, at worst a way to get out of an awkward situation.

Networking should be planned in advance but most of all it should be fun. These five tips will help you get more out of meeting new people.
