I've brought you a dead mouse!

As a cat owner, one of my early morning rituals is disposing of the mouse that has been invariably been left for me at the bottom of the stairs. The mouse is usually dead, though on one occasion was found nibbling away at an exercise book in my daughter’s school bag.
If you own a cat you’ll be familiar with this. Your cat comes bounding home, full of pride and excitement, with the “little gift” between its teeth, and is a bit miffed when you don’t show the right amount of gratitude.
But as salespeople aren’t we exactly the same?
